Nylon Forklift & Pallet Truck Wheels
Cast nylon wheels for hand pallet trucks and light forklifts: a spoked steering wheel and plain load rollers, hard-rolling and corrosion-proof on concrete. Steering wheel Ø180 × 50 mm, load wheels Ø75 × 70 and Ø80 × 70 mm — other sizes machined to drawing.
Product Overview
A hand pallet truck runs on three nylon positions: one spoked steering wheel at the tiller end and two load rollers under the forks. Both are cast nylon — hard, slick and corrosion-proof, which is exactly what a pallet truck wants. The hard surface rolls with very little effort, so the truck is easy to push and pull even fully loaded, and it shrugs off water, alkalis and the acids and solvents found around docks and production floors.
The steering wheel carries the truck’s weight on hard floors and steers with it; the load rollers sit in tandem under each fork tip and wear fastest, because they take the full load every time the forks drop. We supply both positions, matched to your truck: standard sizes are on the shelf line, and any other diameter, width or bore is machined to drawing.

Standard Sizes — and Your Size
The sizes below cover most hand pallet trucks. Non-standard diameters, widths and bores are machined to drawing — send the old wheel or the truck model.
| Position | Size (D × W) | Typical role |
|---|---|---|
| Steering wheel | Ø180 × 50 mm, spoked hub | Tiller end — carries and steers the truck |
| Load wheel | Ø75 × 70 mm | Fork tip, tandem fit |
| Load wheel | Ø80 × 70 mm | Fork tip, tandem fit |
| Custom | Other D × W to drawing | Machined from cast nylon stock, 1 pc up |
| Item | What we build |
|---|---|
| Material | Cast nylon (MC nylon), machined from stock |
| Bore | Plain bore, bearing fitted, or steel sleeve on request |
| Running surface | Turned true; flanged or plain per truck model |
| Resistance | Water, most alkalis, many acids and solvents; never marks concrete |
| Quantity | Sets per truck or production volumes, mixed sizes in one order |
Steering Wheel vs Load Rollers
Steering Wheel
The spoked Ø180 × 50 mm wheel swivels at the tiller and steers the whole truck, so it needs a true running surface and a strong hub. Its load is high but steady; wear is slower than at the fork tips. Replace it when the surface flats, chips or the truck starts to wander.
Load Rollers
The tandem Ø75 or Ø80 × 70 mm rollers under each fork tip take the full pallet load at every drop, and they take it point-first. They wear three to five times faster than the steering wheel — most repeat orders are load rollers, not steering wheels.
Where Nylon Beats Every Other Tread
Easy Push, Low Effort
The hard nylon surface rolls with the least resistance of any wheel material — operators feel the difference the first metre. On smooth concrete, a loaded truck stays manageable all shift.
Corrosion-Proof by Nature
No bond line, no rust, no tread to separate. Water, alkalis and most acids and solvents that would eat a bonded wheel leave cast nylon untouched — it is the default where floors get washed down.
Hard Tread, Long Life
On hard, clean floors nylon outlasts softer treads. The trade-offs — more noise, a harsher ride, less grip on wet ground — are accepted on pallet trucks because the load rolls, not the comfort, is the job.
Nylon Forklift Wheel Questions
Nylon or PU wheels for my pallet truck — which should I choose?
Nylon rolls easier and costs less, and it is the standard on hand pallet trucks worldwide. Choose PU instead if the truck runs long distances on rough or debris-strewn floors, or if noise matters — PU rides quieter and absorbs the shock that a hard nylon wheel passes straight into the truck. For smooth indoor concrete and daily pallet work, nylon is the right answer.
My truck's wheels are a size not listed — can you match them?
Yes. Send the diameter, width and bore of the old wheel — or a photo with a ruler beside it, or the truck model — and we machine to match from cast nylon stock. Non-standard sizes are normal work here, not a special order, and one piece is fine.
Do the wheels come with bearings fitted?
They can. We supply plain bore for your own bearings, or press in the bearing or steel sleeve you specify. Tell us the bearing number or the axle diameter at enquiry and the wheels arrive ready to bolt on.
Which wheels wear out first?
The load rollers, always — they take the full pallet load at every fork drop, while the steering wheel rolls a steadier duty. If you are ordering replacements, check the load rollers first; most customers order both positions together so the truck rolls evenly.
