Heavy Duty PU Rollers for Steel Mills & Aluminium Foil Plants
Cast polyurethane rollers built for metal processing traffic: high load capacity, cut and abrasion resistance, and covers that keep their shape where rubber compresses and bare steel marks. 60 Shore A – 70 Shore D, made to drawing.
Product Overview
These are the rollers for the positions that destroy ordinary covers: coil and sheet handling conveyors, heavy transfer positions, and processing lines where edges, scale and constant load work together. Cast polyurethane carries the load without flat-spotting, shrugs off cut and abrasion, and keeps its diameter — so the handling that depends on it stays precise.

What We Can Build
Dimensions are made to your drawing. Send outside diameter, face length and journal data — or the worn roller — and we confirm feasibility and price against them.

Built for Mill Traffic
Carries the Load
Cast PU at the harder end of the range carries coil and sheet traffic without the permanent flat-spotting that puts a rubber cover out of true.
Resists Cut & Abrasion
Sharp edges, abrasive scale and grit are what kill soft covers. PU resists cut growth and grinding wear, so the cover survives the environment.
Holds Its Shape
Dimensional stability is what keeps handling accurate — the roller that transfers a coil today tracks the same as it did on day one.
Where These Rollers Are Used
- Coil and sheet handling conveyors in steel mills
- Aluminium foil plant handling and transfer lines
- Heavy load conveyor and pinch positions in metal processing
- Replacement rollers for mill equipment maintenance
- Abrasive material handling where rubber covers fail early
Heavy Duty PU Roller Questions
What hardness should we run under heavy mill traffic?
Most heavy handling positions sit at the harder end — around 70 Shore A to 70 Shore D. The right answer depends on load per roller and surface speed, so send the duty and we will specify rather than guess.
Can you match our existing rollers?
Yes. Send the worn roller or the dimensions: outside diameter, face length, journal diameter and length, keyway and thread details. We build to those dimensions so the replacement drops straight in.
PU or rubber-covered for our plant?
For heavy load, cut and abrasion, PU. Rubber stays the better choice above 80 °C, for some solvent contact, or where a very soft nip is needed. Tell us the failure mode of the current cover and we will confirm the fit.
Can the rollers be re-covered when they finally wear?
Yes. Send the roller back: the old cover is stripped, the core inspected and re-machined where needed, then new PU is cast and ground to size — usually cheaper than a new core.
