Frequently Asked Questions

The questions that come up before a first order. If yours is not here, email us — answers come from the workshop, not a script.

Ordering

Before You Order

What do you need from me to quote a roller?

A drawing is fastest. If you do not have one: outside diameter, face length, shaft diameter and total length, the covering material or hardness if known, and the machine make and model. A photo of the worn roller with a ruler in frame is usually enough to start.

What is your minimum order quantity?

One piece. Trial rollers and single replacements are accepted; volume pricing applies to sets and repeat orders.

Can you manufacture from a worn sample?

Yes. Ship the worn roller or send detailed measurements and photos. We measure the worn part, agree the reconstruction dimensions with you in writing, then manufacture.

How long does production take?

Standard covered rollers are quoted per order. Press roller sets and special compounds take longer. The lead time is stated in the quotation and confirmed against drawing approval — not estimated afterwards.

Do you supply samples?

We produce a single roller as a paid trial rather than a free sample. A roller made to your drawing is the sample — it can go straight onto the line.

Technical

Materials and Tolerances

Which rubber compound should I choose?

NBR for oil contact, EPDM for water, steam and ozone, SBR for general purpose and abrasion, neoprene for moderate oil plus weather, silicone for heat and release. If your application does not fit, say so — those cases need a different compound, not a compromise.

What hardness tolerance can you hold?

Typically ±3 Shore A. Tighter is possible after review, but specify what the application actually needs — a tighter tolerance raises cost without necessarily improving the result.

What runout should I specify?

15 micron covers most web handling. Printing and coating positions may need tighter. Runout, concentricity and surface finish are agreed in writing before production.

Do you balance rollers?

Static or dynamic balancing is available on request. Above roughly 200 m/min surface speed, dynamic balancing to G6.3 stops being optional.

Can you work with my existing core?

Yes. Ship the core and we strip, prepare, re-cover and grind it. If the journals are worn or the core is bent, we will tell you before starting — a new core is sometimes the cheaper route.

Shipping

Delivery and Export

Do you ship to the US and Australia?

Yes. Shipments go by sea, air and express, with export packing included. Door-to-door options are confirmed at quotation.

How are rollers packed?

Plywood crate or wooden case with rust preventive wrapping and end protection. Long rollers are supported along the face to prevent bowing in transit.

Which Incoterms do you offer?

FOB, CIF and DDP options are available depending on destination. The term and freight cost are stated in the quotation so there is no surprise on arrival.

Who handles the documents?

We issue the commercial invoice, packing list and bill of lading, and can supply a certificate of origin where applicable. Tell us at order stage if your customs broker needs anything specific.
