Custom Shaped PU Wheels
Polyurethane wheels in shapes the catalogue does not carry: knurled and straight-fluted treads for grip, aluminium cores for low weight, steel bore sleeves for wear, end caps for sealed hubs — in any colour, made to your drawing or copied from your sample.
Product Overview
Most PU wheels are round and smooth. A lot of positions need something else: a knurled tread that grips without marking, a straight-fluted surface that walks a product along, a steel sleeve in the bore where a plain hub would wear out, an end cap that seals the hub against dust. These are the wheels on this page — shapes we cast and machine to order, not shapes we stock.
Send a drawing, or the old wheel itself. We read the tread form, the core, the bore and the hardness from what you send, confirm them back to you, and make the replacement to match. One piece is enough to start.

What Can Be Shaped
Every line is set at quotation against your drawing or sample — the tread form, the core, the bore and the colour are all yours to specify.
| Feature | Options |
|---|---|
| Tread surface | Knurled, straight fluted, grooved, crowned, smooth — pattern cut to drawing |
| Core | Aluminium, steel, cast iron — machined in house |
| Bore | Plain, bearing seat, keyed, or steel sleeve for wear |
| End caps | Aluminium or steel caps to seal or close the hub |
| Colour | Orange, red, yellow, green, black — any colour to spec |
| Quantity | From one piece to production volumes, mixed sizes in one order |
What the Shape Is For
Knurl & Flutes = Grip
A knurled or fluted tread bites into the driven surface without cutting it — the answer for drive positions, pull-through stations and any place a smooth wheel slips.
Aluminium & Steel Where It Counts
Aluminium cores keep the wheel light and precisely true; steel sleeves in the bore take the wear a soft hub would collect. Each part of the wheel gets the material it needs.
Copied, Not Guessed
The fastest way to order is to send the worn wheel. We measure tread form, core, bore and hardness from the sample and build the new one to those numbers.
Where Shaped PU Wheels Run
- Packaging and converting machinery drive and feed positions
- Pull-through and friction-drive stations where smooth wheels slip
- Guiding and side-steering wheels on conveyor lines
- Special equipment wheels where no standard size exists
- Replacement wheels for imported machines
Shaped Wheel Questions
Can you copy a wheel from a sample?
Yes — that is the usual way. Send the worn wheel and we measure the tread form, diameter, width, core, bore and hardness, confirm the specification back to you, then build to it. A drawing works too if you have one.
What is the minimum order for a shaped wheel?
One piece. Shaped wheels are cast and machined to order, so a single trial wheel costs the same process as a batch. Mixed sizes and shapes can ship together.
How do I specify a knurled or fluted tread?
The easiest way is a photo of the old tread next to a ruler, or the pitch and depth if you know them. If you only know the result you need — more grip, less marking — describe the surface it runs against and we propose the pattern.
Does the colour matter?
Mechanically, no — colour is in the compound, and all colours get the same wear performance. It matters for line-side identification: many plants colour-code wheel types, and orange, red, yellow and green are all standard options here.
