PU Metering Wheels

Wear-resistant polyurethane wheels for length measuring on cable, wire, pipe, tube and profile lines. They grip the product without marking it, and they keep their circumference — so the counter at the end of the line stays honest. Made to drawing, custom sizes standard.

Product Overview

A metering wheel is a ruler that rolls. Circumference times revolutions equals length sold, so two things decide whether the counter tells the truth: the wheel must not slip on the product, and its diameter must not wear down. Polyurethane handles both — high friction grips cable, pipe and profile without scratching the surface, and the tread resists the wear that puts steel and soft-rubber wheels out of calibration within months.

Wheels are supplied with clamp collars for quick shaft mounting, or with bearing bores, in the diameter and width your line needs. Colours like red and green make wheel changes easy to spot on the line.

Why PU here

The Wheel the Counter Can Trust

Grip Without Marking

High-friction PU holds the product firmly enough to prevent slip — the main cause of short metering — while staying gentle on cable jackets, polished tube and finished profiles.

Circumference That Lasts

The tread is ground to diameter and resists wear, so the wheel that measures correctly on day one still measures correctly months later — less recalibration, fewer disputes over delivered length.

Fast Line-Side Change

Clamp-collar mounting lets a technician swap a wheel in minutes without dismantling the shaft — and the colour options make it obvious at a glance which wheel is running.

Applications

Where They Measure

  • Cable and wire drawing and stranding lines
  • Pipe, tube and hose extrusion lines
  • Profile and window-frame extrusion
  • Printing, labelling and converting lines
  • Any length-counting or measuring station on a continuous line
FAQ

Metering Wheel Questions

Why does our length count drift over time?

Almost always the wheel. Tread wear quietly shrinks the circumference, so the counter records more metres than the line delivers; slip does the opposite. A wear-resistant PU wheel that is ground true fixes both at once — and re-checking the diameter at each planned maintenance keeps it that way.

Clamp collar or bearing bore — which mounting?

Clamp collars suit existing shafts: the wheel locks anywhere along the shaft with set screws, which makes position setting and replacement quick. Bearing bores suit stations where the wheel free-runs on a fixed axle. Send a photo of the station and we will confirm.

Can you match the diameter our counter is calibrated to?

Yes. Send the target diameter and we grind to it, so the new wheel drops in without recalibrating the counter. For special circumferences and non-standard sizes, custom manufacturing is the norm here, not an exception.

Our product has a delicate surface — will PU mark it?

Polyurethane is the usual choice precisely because it grips without scratching. For very soft or polished surfaces we can specify a smoother tread and a softer grade — describe the product and its coating and we match the compound.
